An encouraging start to the season for Lion Truck Racing

Misano, Italy, May 23th 2023 - Lion Truck Racing has already proven its determination and strength of character.

Plunged into mourning following the sudden death of its figurehead driver Anthony Janiec, the French squad managed to find the strength and resources to compete in the Goodyear FIA ETRC later in the season, with team engineer Jonathan André driving the famous yellow Man truck. At Most in the Czech Republic, then Zolder in Belgium and finally at Jarama in Spain, André spent the end of 2022 racking up the miles and learning about truck racing up against the best in Europe in the discipline. Suffice to say that he came into the new season better prepared to do the Lion Truck Racing team proud, still faithfully supported by TotalEnergies.

Moreover, he was also able to enjoy three days of testing in changeable weather conditions in Nogaro, an opportunity to review the set-up of the truck, which had undergone some upgrades during the off-season, before taking to the track for a demo at the Pau Grand Prix. This increased level of preparation proved fruitful this weekend in Misano at the opening round of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship. Jonathan André secured some promising results in Italy, especially on day one: he finished seventh and eighth overall in races 1 and 2, also claiming third place in the Promoter’s Cup in each contest. A performance that will ensure he heads into his next event, at the Grand Prix Camions du Castellet (27-28 May), for round one of the French Truck Racing Championship, full of confidence.

Championship update

After scoring thirty-one points this weekend on the other side of the Alps, Jonathan André holds third place in the Promoter’s Cup standings. He also lies tenth in the Goodyear FIA European Championship standings with seven points.
