An in-competition test session for Lion Truck Racing

Poznan, Poland, June 27th 2023 - After a successful outing in the French Truck Racing Championship meeting held at Nogaro recently, Lion Truck Racing and its driver Jonathan André returned to the 2023 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship, heading to Tor Poznan, Poland, a brand new venue in the ETRC. Technical, hilly and offering plenty of grip, the new 4.083km-long track served up by the organisers proved to be very popular with the drivers

Once again, Hungarian driver Norbert Kiss was in impressive form, claiming top spot in both super pole sessions before going on to win races 1 and 3. He also picked up a third-place finish in race 4, which was won by Antonio Albacete, whilst his poorest result was fifth in the weekend’s second contest, a race that was dominated by Lukas Hahn. For Lion Truck Racing, the aim was different for this maiden outing in Poland. Above all, it was about continuing to learn and rack up the miles on track, completing a sort of in-competition test session ahead of the Nürburgring meeting (15-16 July), a venue with which the team is more familiar, by testing various set-ups on the famous TotalEnergies-backed yellow Man truck and trying out new brake pads.

From this perspective, Jonathan André and the entire team were very pleased with track miles they got under their belt in Poland. They are now very much looking forward to the German round, where they hope to up their performance level again as they take on the elite of European truck racing.

Championship update

The 2023 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship remains dominated by Norbert Kiss, unbeatable once again in Poznan. Meanwhile, despite missing the second ETRC meeting, Jonathan André lies seventh in the Promoter’s Cup standings largely thanks to the eighteen points he scored this weekend.
