Norbert Kiss all the way in ETRC!

Slovakia Ring, Slovaquie, July 5th - Round three of the FIA ETRC at the Slovakia Ring, in Slovakia, saw defending champion and this year’s current leader Norbert Kiss produce yet another dominant performance.

Two years had passed since top-flight truck racing had been held at this track. And yet it made no difference, as the Hungarian driver continued his total domination of the championship in the Revesz Racing truck, extending his incredible series to claim his fifth and sixth pole positions of 2022 from as many qualifying sessions. He also won the opening race, before losing out by just 0.197 seconds in the weekend’s second contest to Jamie Anderson, who started on pole thanks to the reverse grid.

Norbert Kiss lined up eighth on the grid, but then carved through the field with a series of overtaking moves, falling just short of victory and having to settle for second spot. He soon made up for it in the third race of the meeting, securing his seventieth career victory in the championship, no less! He then rounded off a superb weekend in style on Sunday, claiming a third win in the fourth and final race. Once again eighth on the starting grid, his fightback was made easier when Shane Brereton, Steffi Halm and Adam Lacko clashed on the opening lap. Norbert Kiss’ rivals really do have their work cut out if they are to mount a serious challenge to the Hungarian. The next round, held at the Nürburgring on 16-17 July, may well be crucial in this respect, because it marks the halfway stage of the season.

Championship update

Norbert Kiss claimed his largest haul of points (59) at the Slovakia Ring since the start of the 2022 FIA European Truck Racing Championship. A first-class performance that extends his lead over Sascha Lenz, his closest challenger in the drivers’ standings, to thirty-two points.
