Motorsport: TotalEnergies to supply a certified 100% sustainable fuel for the 2024 Fanatec GT World Challenge powered by AWS in Europe and Asia

Paris, July 1, 2023 - TotalEnergies and the SRO Motorsports Group have renewed their partnership to supply fuel for a number of Grand Touring motorsport championships: the Fanatec GT World Challenge powered by AWS in Europe and Asia, the Fanatec GT2 European Series and the GT4 European Series Powered by RAFA Racing Club, and the FFSA French GT Championship.

In 2024, TotalEnergies, as official fuel supplier, will introduce Excellium Racing 100(1), its certified 100% sustainable racing fuel, at the Fanatec GT World Challenge powered by AWS Europe – including the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa – and Asia. The agreement is part of a joint strategy to decarbonize motorsport.

Fuel made from waste

Excellium Racing 100 is a racing fuel that meets all the requirements of automakers, engine manufacturers and the EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED). It is produced from waste and residues, especially from the wine industry (wine lees and grape marc). It reduces CO2 emissions by at least 65%(2)  over its life cycle.
TotalEnergies will also help reduce emissions at the SRO Championships by supplying HVO100 in 2023, a biofuel obtained from sustainable vegetable oils and waste products (animal fats, cooking oils, residual oils) to replace diesel for various uses on the circuits.

“TotalEnergies and the SRO Motorsports Group are longstanding partners and we are delighted to support this world championship in its energy transition. TotalEnergies is proud to supply competitors with certified 100% sustainable fuel from 2024 onwards, a tangible demonstration of our strategy to help our customers and partners achieve carbon neutrality. This is fully in line with the Company's climate ambition to get to net zero by 2050, together with society,” said Philippe Charleux, Senior Vice President, Lubricants and Specialties, TotalEnergies.

“TotalEnergies is among our longest-standing partners and we are delighted to have reached this new agreement. We share the common objective of decarbonisation in motorsport, and the introduction of Excellium Racing 100 in two of our continental Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS series is an important step towards this. Making progress requires world-class partners and we can confidently say that we have just that in TotalEnergies,” said Stéphane Ratel, CEO SRO Motorsport Group.

(1) Excellium Racing 100 is certified 100% sustainable according to the International Sustainability Carbon Certification (ISCC) mass balance system.

(2) In line with the methodology set out in the European RED II directive (2018/2021), Excellium Racing 100 reduces greenhouse gas emissions by at least 65% compared to its fossil equivalent.
