DS TECHEETAH ADDS ANOTHER PODIUM TO ITS TALLY IN MONACO!

Anticipation of this year’s race was greater than ever as the teams tackled the iconic track in its entirety for the first time. With two wins under its belt at this round – in 2019 with Jean-Eric Vergne and then last year with Antonio Felix Da Costa – DS TECHEETAH came into the race in buoyant mood this weekend and fully determined to maintain its good early season form, having already picked up two podiums so far this year (Jean-Eric Vergne third in Mexico and runner-up in Rome). The team’s confidence proved justified in qualifying as  Jean-Eric Vergne finished third in his DS E-TENSE FE21 whilst his team-mate Antonio Felix Da Costa had to settle for tenth position on the starting grid. Vergne then produced a superb performance on the world’s most famous street circuit to cross the finishing line in third place, having had to fight hard for position on several occasions during the race. The team could also savour a superb overall performance, as Antonio Felix Da Costa made a fine comeback to move up through the field to finish in fifth place.

Thomas Chevaucher, Director of DS Performance and DS TECHEETAH Team Principal, was delighted afterwards: “This race once again proves the consistency of our team and the performance level of our DS E-TENSE FE21s. JEV has grabbed another podium and António produced a great fightback to finish fifth! The points scored by our drivers moves the team into second place in the Teams standings, just fifteen points behind the leader. We are very much in both title races and I feel confident about the rest of the season!” A view that was shared by Jean-Eric Vergne: “I’m pretty pleased with how my race went and to finish in third place. I wanted to win, obviously, but I was a bit unlucky with my second attack mode. I had just activated it when Wehrlein retired from the lead and we had a Full Course Yellow. That ruined my chances of winning… Having said that, I'm pleased with the podium, which gives us lots of points for both championships. We’ll be back even stronger in Berlin.” The 2022 Formula E world championship’s next stop is indeed in Berlin in two weeks’ time. The fifth meeting of the season will be a double-header with rounds 7 and 8, on 14-15 May.

Championship update

DS TECHEETAH enjoyed a very successful weekend, points wise, in the streets of Monaco. The twenty-five points taken in the Principality moves the team into second position in the teams’ championship, just fifteen adrift of the current leaders. In the drivers’ standings, Jean-Eric Vergne is right in the mix for a third title. The Frenchman is second in the championship, just six points behind the leader, whilst Antonio Felix Da Costa is currently in tenth position.
