Another podium finish for the Hansen World RX Team at Spa!

SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, France, October 12th - Being consistently among the frontrunners is undoubtedly one of the strengths of the Hansen World RX Team this year.

Timmy and Kevin Hansen, the Swedish team’s two drivers, proved this once again at Spa-Francorchamps, round five of the championship. Up against competitors very determined to put an end to their incredible series of results since the start of the year, the two brothers produced skilful performances in Belgium to secure precious points in the title race. And yet the weekend did not get off the best of starts for the Swedish team. Timmy ended the qualifying rounds in third position after finishing as runner-up in Q2 and Q3, whilst his younger Kevin brother placed fifth. However, the TotalEnergies-backed Peugeot 208 WRX drivers once again showed their capabilities in the semi-finals: Timmy finished ahead of Kevin in their semi-final. Unfortunately, the elder brother was handed a penalty for coming into contact with a competitor on a hairpin, meaning Kevin was promoted to first place. Kevin therefore started the final on the front row, an opportunity that the younger sibling was happy to take. He finished second in the race, ensuring he remains very much in the title hunt with three rounds of the season to go. Demoted to third in his semi-final, Timmy started from the back row in the final. And despite his extensive talent and racecraft, he was unable to do any better than fourth. A slightly disappointing result, although the loss of points was limited, that he will be determined to put behind him next weekend when the World Rallycross Championship heads to Montalegre in Portugal.

Championship update

Fourth place for Timmy Hansen means he lost only eight points to Johan Kristoffersson, the winner this weekend and his main rival in the title race. He therefore remains twelve points clear of his fellow Swede. Kevin, meanwhile, lies third in the standings, just three points behind Kristoffersson.
