Three podiums for Rea

MAGNY-COURS, France,  September 7 - Even if he was forced to give up his championship lead, Jonathan Rea once again showed his consistency at Magny-Cours, by finishing on the podium in all three races.

As the end of the season approaches, the battle between Jonathan Rea and Toprak Razgatlioglu continues to heat up. At Magny-Cours, the six-time world champion and his Turkish rival slugged it out throughout the weekend. Twice second in both rounds but winner of the Sprint race, Rea suffered from the abnormally high temperatures at the French circuit at this time of the year. “We had a lot of wear on the rear tyre and after ten laps it was difficult for me to slow the bike down going into the corners," admitted the Kawasaki rider. “The heat caused us some serious problems. It was difficult to ride like I know how because I was losing too much time under acceleration.”

Second overall, Jonathan Rea ended his weekend at Magny-Cours seven points behind the new Turkish leader. For Alex Lowes, the weekend was much more complicated. With two crashes in races 1 and 2, the British rider lost a lot of ground at Magny-Cours. Even if he was able to get onto the Sprint race podium, Jonathan Rea's teammate slipped to fifth place overall. Ten points behind the Italian Locatelli, Lowes was victim of a minor brake problem that denied him a podium finish on Saturday afternoon. “I was in the running, but racing can be cruel," commented the Brit philosophically. “We’ll try to do better next time.”
