Magny-Cours, France, May 16th 2022- After the Chazel Technologie Course team enjoyed a clean sweep at the opening round in Nogaro, Simon Tirman (Autosport GP) and Paul Cauhaupé (Patrick Roger Autosport GP) claimed their maiden wins of the season at Magny-Cours.
Twenty-four Alpine A110 Cups lined up for the second round of the season. Having set the fastest time in free practice, Simon Tirman (Autosport GP) secured his second pole position of the season, edging Paul Cauhaupé (Patrick Roger Autosport GP) and Lucas Frayssinet (Chazel Technologie Course) by a few thousandths of a second. Simon Tirman maintained his qualifying form in the race itself and was finally able to savour the joys of victory. The Autosport GP driver took full advantage of his position at the front of the starting grid, as he exited the first corner in the lead. It was a position Tirman held throughout, eventually crossing the finishing line ahead of Paul Cauhaupé (Patrick Roger Autosport GP) and Lucas Frayssinet (Chazel Technologie Course). In the Gentlemen Drivers’ class, Anthony Fournier (Race Cars Consulting) ended the winning run of Philippe Bourgois (Chazel Technologie Course), as he replaced him on the top step of the podium. On his return to racing, his first love, Belgian comedian and actor Stéphane de Groodt (Chazel Technologie Course) finished third in the Gentlemen Drivers’ class.
Buyed by his win in Friday’s opening race, Simon Tirman (Autosport GP) secured pole position again for race two, ahead of Paul Cauhaupé (Patrick Roger Autosport GP). After lapping on Tirman’s tail in the opening stages, Cauhaupé eventually managed to take the lead with 15 minutes to go. Cauhaupé held off any potential comeback, taking the chequered flag ahead of Tirman and Lucas Frayssinet (Chazel Technologie Course), who claimed his second third-place finish of the weekend. Frédéric Roy (Chazel Technologie Course) took top honours in the Gentlemen Drivers, with Anthony Fournier (Race Cars Consulting) finishing as runner-up after sneaking past Marc Sevestre (Autosport GP) on the final lap.
